Caleb's birthday

Caleb turned 7 today!! He was so excited. At school they had an end of year carnival and he thought that was the best way to spend his birthday. They had blow up slides, a bouncing house, a train ride, cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn, and games. What more could a kid ask for??

My baby's 7!! How old does that make me???!!!

Sunday School lessons

Caleb got a very interesting extra Sunday School lesson today. Our next door neighbor's little boy (age 9) told him that he needed to go to his church to learn more about Jesus so Caleb could go to Heaven. Caleb came and told me what he said and that he was supposed to go to h-e-double-hockey-sticks. (What??? I thought) I could tell that he had gotten the retelling a little confused, so I asked him what that meant. He said it was the name of their church. (LOL!) When I explained to him what h-e-double-hockey-sticks stood for he looked confused and said, "That doesn't make sense. I better go ask him the name of his church again." Not wanting Caleb to be told again that he was going to h-e-double-hockey-sticks if he didn't go to their church instead of ours, I held him back. I was surprised at their conversation because the little boy is in our home practically every day and we have several pictures of Christ around the house. He must have had a rousing fire and brimstone sermon in his Sunday School class today. In comparison, Caleb said his Sunday School lesson was on prayer and how he can talk to his Heavenly Father whenever he wants to. I am so grateful for his sweet spirit!

This is cleaning???

This morning my boys informed me that they had been organizing their toys and cleaning out their toy box before school. Impressed with their willingness to clean without being asked, I went downstairs during the day and this is what I saw...

Does this look clean to you??? Needless to say, they came home from school and had to head straight downstairs to finish what they started! I guess I should be proud they took the initiative to clean in the first place. Boys! What am I going to do with them??

Jumping fun

Michelle and I brought Jacob and Ryan to the new Kangaroozoo that opened. It is a huge warehouse type building full of blow up jumping toys. It has been a huge success!! So much fun!

The Rat

This is such a funny story, at least to Michelle and I, so we figured we would share it with all of you. Michelle was over playing with our nephews, Jacob and Ryan, in the backyard when they saw a dead rat on the grass. Our cat, Stinker, is a really good hunter. The only down side is that he leaves his unfinished victims laying around the yard. This rat was huge and it's claws were all clenched and shriveled looking and it was half eaten. So gross! It is the white spot in the grass near the garbage can. Here is Michelle's attempt at getting the rat cleaned up. Scroll down for the continuing saga. Notice she keeps saying, "I can't do it. I can't do it." and then throwing up on my grass!

So I go out to be the hero, but it just wasn't meant to be. I realize as I'm walking out there that I might be stepping on Michelle's barf, so I start gagging too! We are a very weak stomached family.

Finally I go and get my old farmer neighbor George to clean it up for us. What a hero!

Too funny!! We hope it made you laugh at least half as hard as we did!

California Girls

Michelle, Jacob and I just got back from a quick getaway to sunny So. Cal. It was beautiful! Eric got us buddy passes on Jetblue that we had to use quick, so off we went for some sun and sand. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Newport Beach, thanks to a great rate on Hotwire.

Thrifty's Rocky Road and Butter Pecan, need I say more?! Even Jacob couldn't resist trying to sneak a bite while his Mom wasn't looking.

It is shameless, I know, to admit what you are about to read. I just want you all to know, it was TOTALLY worth it!!

First trip to In-N-Out, Torrance, Monday night at 9:30 pm. We were on our way from the Long Beach airport to our hotel in Newport Beach. That chocolate shake was thick and delicious!

Second trip to In-N-Out, Costa Mesa, Tuesday morning at 11:30 am. It was breakfast for me. SO GOOD! It is right by South Coast Plaza where we went shopping after we ate.
Third trip to In-N-Out, Westminster, Wednesday afternoon on our way to the Burbank airport to fly back home. I know, we over did it, but it was SO GOOD!

It was so fun to be back in California. Michelle and I really miss the beach, and obviously, In-N-Out. Wish you could have been there!

Little League

Christopher had his first preseason little league baseball game last night.

He is #5 on the Cardinals.

After the game we decided to have a little batting practice for him out in the backyard before his second game this morning. He hit the ball really good, right through the basement window! He was so worried and we were so proud! We gave him high fives for breaking his first window playing baseball.
This morning he got up to bat...
and even made it to first base! Too bad the pitcher had to hit him to get there!!!It is going to be fun going to little league baseball games again. Caleb especially loves the concession stand!
